Underground Dance Music — Three Decades Deep
About
Ara Simonian has been shaping the sound of underground dance music for over three decades. His journey began in the mid-1980s, DJing local parties in Los Angeles with his brother Reneh, before exploding onto the global scene in the 1990s with Sweet Drop.
Their breakout single "Acid People" on Strictly Rhythm (1995) became a global anthem of the era — a defining moment in the history of underground house music. Their follow up massive hit "Human Nature" on Groovilicious (1996) only cemented their place on the world stage. From there, Ara went on to craft remixes for legends including Depeche Mode and New Order, cementing his place in electronic music history.
Now, with the founding of NovaHaus Records in 2025, Ara returns to redefine house and techno for a new generation — blending old-school authenticity with a futuristic, floor-shaking vision. With its roots in the golden era of Strictly Rhythm and its pulse on tomorrow's sound, NovaHaus Records isn't just a label. It's a movement.
